Choppers Only. The boys go to a chopper show, make repairs in the woods, and pet some dogs.
This summer the Trippers did 2000 miles the long way from Portland Oregon to Virginia City Nevada for the annual chopper show, the Virginia City Roundup.
We filmed, shot photos and made a commemorative VHS and photo booklet available to purchase here.
HERE IS WHAT WE DID.
ART DIRECTION
Our art direction for Trippers was a tribute to the '90s and the charm of antiquated media. We leaned into the imperfections of the era, favoring grainy textures, muted tones, and hand-held framing to bring authenticity to the story. The VHS format became a central element, both in the aesthetic of the short film and in the physical product.
PHOTO/VIDEO
While riding with the pack, we captured the raw energy of the journey as it unfolded in real-time. Each shot reflecting the spontaneity and freedom of life on the move. Our photography focused on candid expressions and shifting terrains, resulting in a series that feels as dynamic and unfiltered as the trip itself.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
We created a VHS version of the short film and BTS booklet, leaning into the nostalgic, retro aesthetic. From the design of the VHS sleeve to the cassette labels, layout and material choice, every detail was crafted to reflect the handmade, exploratory nature of the project.
